Leak Penetration
When using a photometer, measured leak penteration is the photometer
response when the probe is stationary over a leak, divided by the
photometer response upstream of the filter. when using a discrete
particle counter, leak penetration is the concentration of particles
counted when the probe is staionary over a leak, divided by the concentration
of particles that would be counted upstream of the filter in the same
time if the counter could sample upstream. Measures leak penetration
depends on the photometer or discrete particle counter flow rate.
The leak can be defined as the portion(percentage) of the test instrument's
sample flow that passes unfiltered through a defect in the filter
or filter medium
